The short version
This is a small running site, so there is not much to tell. We collect as little as we can and we don’t sell any of it. Google Analytics runs here and sets a cookie when you arrive, which is how we know which posts get read, and you can switch it off in about ten seconds if you would rather not be counted.
If you sign up for the Dispatch or download a race guide, we keep your email address so we can send you the thing you asked for. Everything below is just the detail.
What we collect
Three things, depending on what you do here.
- Analytics, from the moment you land. Google Analytics tells us which pages get read, roughly what part of the world you are in, what browser you are using, and how far down a post you scroll. It does not tell us who you are, and the Your choices section explains how to turn it off.
- Your email address, if you sign up for the Dispatch or fill in the form to download a race guide. The race guide form also asks for a first name, so the email doesn’t have to open with “Hi there”.
- Whatever you write to us, if you email hello@suorsociety.com. That lands in a normal inbox and gets treated like any other email.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your email address to anyone. There are no advertising pixels on this site, no retargeting, and nothing that follows you to other websites.
We also don’t try to work out who you are from analytics data, and we don’t build a profile on you.
Cookies
There is no accept or reject bar on this site. Google Analytics sets the two cookies below when you arrive, and they do nothing except count visits and tell a return visit apart from a first one. Nothing here is used for advertising.
If you would rather not be counted, the Your choices section further down has the opt-out, and the site behaves exactly the same once you use it.
The last row isn’t technically a cookie, it is browser local storage. It is listed anyway because the distinction doesn’t change anything for you.

Who else sees it
A few companies handle pieces of this site, and your data passes through them. Each one has its own privacy policy.
- Google runs the analytics, and holds a backup copy of the signup list in a spreadsheet.
- beehiiv stores the newsletter list and sends the Dispatch.
- Vercel hosts the site and keeps the usual server logs.
Your choices
You can opt out of the analytics entirely and you don’t have to take our word for it working. Google publishes a browser add-on that switches Google Analytics off on every site you visit, this one included, and it installs in about ten seconds: Google Analytics opt-out add-on
Blocking cookies for this site in your browser settings does the same job, and so does any tracker blocker or a private window. Whichever route you take, the site works normally afterwards. If you would rather we deleted analytics data tied to your visit, email us and we will ask Google to remove it.
Every Dispatch email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it works straight away. If you would rather have your address deleted entirely, email us and we will do it.
If you are in the EU, the UK, or Brazil, you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to get a copy, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. Email us and we will sort it out. There is no form to fill in.
How long we keep things
Analytics data expires on Google’s schedule, which is currently 14 months. Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Emails you send us sit in the inbox until you ask us to clear them out.
Kids, and changes to this page
The site isn’t aimed at children and we don’t knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything significant gets a mention in the Dispatch rather than a quiet edit.
